Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:4
The term for mourn is that of deep anguish, bringing forth tears. Sorrow that pierces the heart and is intense. This can mean that the one who faces sorrow in this world can place his hope in the comfort and future plan of God for eternity.
It more directly relates to the one who is broken by their sin. They feel the deep suffering of their sin and the separation it has caused. When such a person repents, they are comforted. The term for comfort is parakalein which means to come alongside, to accompany. Those who mourn their sin have the Lord come alongside them and bring His hope, comfort and love
